Alan Wake, the much-anticipated atmospheric thriller under development by Max Payne creator Remedy Games, is still alive, despite its notable absence from an entire year's worth of trade shows.
Remedy recently showed a new trailer for Alan Wake during the exclusive premiere of the Max Payne movie in Finland, Remedy's home base. The trailer was so well-received that Remedy decided to release it worldwide. Like the Max Payne game, Alan Wake is inspired by Hollywood films, and what's been shown so far has been decidedly cinematic.

Wake-watchers were expecting to see a glimpse of the Xbox 360 and PC title at the Game Developer's Conference, German Games Convention, Electronic Entertainment Expo or Tokyo Game Show this year, but the game, announced in 2005, has stayed off the radar for most of 2008.
Apart from the new trailer, Remedy managing director Matias Myllyrinne said the company has no immediate plans to update gamers on Alan Wake's progress, as "it's still time to focus" on finishing the game.
Can we expect to get a peek at some gameplay at the new E3
in 2009, perhaps?
